- Zithrox 500 mg contains azithromycin which is used in the treatment of bacterial infections and typhoid fever. It is used in bacterial infections of tonsils, sinus, ear, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues, windpipe and lungs (pneumonia). Zithrox 500 mg Tablet is a macrolide antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by inhibiting synthesis of essential proteins, which are required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.
- How to use
- Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It is normally prescribed as one tablet once daily half an hour before meals. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Zithrox 500 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- Precautions
- Zithrox 500 mg tablets are probably safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.Its also safe to use in kidney disease but unsafe to use in liver disease. Dose adjustment may be required. Common side effects include diarrhoea, allergy, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Consult your doctor if the symptoms persist.
