- Osmolax Solution contains Lactulose which is used in constipation. It may also be used to treats and prevent complications of liver disease (hepatic encephalopathy). Osmolax Solution works by drawing water into the intestine through osmosis, which makes the stool soft and easier to pass.
- How to use
- Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Osmolax Solution may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- Precautions
- Osmolax Solution is probably safe to use during pregnancy,lactation,liver and kidney conditions.Common side effect is dehydration. Avoid taking a Osmolax Solution for more than 1 week, unless prescribed by the doctor, as it leads to dependency on the laxative action to produce a bowel movement. Together with Osmolax Solution, fiber rich diet containing whole grain bread and cereals, bran, fruits and green leafy vegetables, is essential to maintain healthy bowel function. Osmolax Solution should preferably be taken at bedtime because it requires 6 to 8 hours to show impact. Notify your doctor if you are on a low-sugar diet because the Osmolax Solution contains sugars. Take Osmolax Solution after 2 hours from other medicines, as it may interfere with the absorption of other medicines.
