- Description
- Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal drug which in sensitive fungi inhibits cytochrome P-450 dependent enzymes resulting in impairment of ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes. Fluconazole is well absorbed following oral administration.
- How to use
- Fluconazole should be administered as a single oral dose for vaginal candidiasis. A 150mg once monthly dose may be used to reduce the incidence of recurrent vaginal candidiasis.
For dermal infections the recomended dose is 150mg once weekly for 2-4 weeks. - Precautions
- Fluconazole should be used with caution in patients with impaired renal function and should be monitored carefully.
