Description

Bralix??combines the anxiolytic properties of chloridiazepoxide and the antispasmodic and antisecretory properties of clidinium bromide.

Presentation

Sugar-coated tablets clidinium bromide 2.5mg and chloridiazepoxide 5mg.

Properties

Bralix^??combines the anxiolytic properties of chloridiazepoxide and the antispasmodic and antisecretory properties of clidinium bromide. The antimuscarinic action of clidinium bromide is equal to that of atropine but its side-effects are less. Chlordiazepoxide is a well-tolerated benzodiazepine which relieve anxiety and tension and has a muscle relaxant action. Clidinium bromide is a synthetic antimuscarinic, which has a spasmolytic effect on smooth muscle and inhibits secretion.

Indications

Bralix^??is indicated for the control of excessive excretion, motility and emotional factors in gastrointestinal disorders such as peptic and duodenal ulcer, nervous dyspepsia, spastic colon, colitis, diarrhoea and pylorospasm.

Dosage

Adults: the recommended dose is 1 to 2 tablets three or four times daily taken with a little water before meals at bedtime.
Elderly: one tablet twice daily.
Children: Bralix^??is not recommended for children.

Side-effect

Bralix^??is well tolerated with minor side-effects such as dryness of the mouth allergic reactions, blurring of vision, drowsiness, muscle weakness, nausea, constipation, disorders of micturition, confusion, skin eruptions, oedema, extrapyramidal symptoms, increased and decreased libido, agranulocytosis, jaundice and hepatic dysfunction. It may also cause transient anterograde amnesia and paradoxical reactions e.g restlessness, irritability, aggressiveness, hallucinations, allergic reactions.
