- Atacand Plus tablets contains Candesartan cilexetil 16 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg used to treat high blood pressure. Candesartan is an Angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels. This allows the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.
- How to use
- Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Atacand Plus 16mg/12.5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- Precautions
- Taking Hydrochlorothiazide with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. Atacand Plus is unsafe to use during pregnancy and lactation. Atacand Plus should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney and liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
